About Longview

History

Revitalize your soul at our Caribbean retreat that is peerless for its spectacular azure seascape and majestic mountain views. Idyllically perched on several acres of tropically perfumed grounds, this vacation escape boasts spacious accommodations harmoniously fusing timeless classical architecture with modern design nuances. With 5-star amenities and the incomparable warmth of its Jamaican staff, you can immerse yourself in complete relaxation, comfort, and sophistication.

Welcome to Longview Villa, an expansive 7,500 square foot, seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom estate that sleeps 14 within its main house and cottage annex. Located outside Jamaica’s tourism capital Montego Bay at the Round Hill peninsular, this privately owned villa has the distinction of being built in 1954 by world-renowned Caribbean resort architect William Ballard as his personal holiday residence. Over the years this exceptional property has been owned by notable socialites, business luminaries, and Hollywood royalty. For several decades Longview has been in the loving care of a pioneering manufacturing dynasty.

Its muse is its name. The enchanting vista of the Caribbean Sea, mountains, and Jamaica’s tourism capital is the namesake for the villa as well as its interior design inspiration. Not only is its owners’ love of all things marine, reflected in the vacation home’s soft furnishings and collectibles in sea blue accents, but multiple living spaces, verandas and the spectacular pool deck all have had their floor plans optimized to best showcase the enticing natural panorama. Brass fixtures add a posh note but are practical with the prevalent tarnishing of sea frost. Choices of glass or lacquered tables reflect natural light throughout the interiors.

Longview has been the home away from home for royalty, movie stars, captains of industry, and discerning travelers, with six terraced lawns, a private tennis court and fitness room at the highest elevation of its Round Hill peninsular locale.

The classic vaulted ceilings, sprawling verandas, and large windows were purposefully designed for grand yet seamless indoor/outdoor living. The clean, neutral decor allows the vividly saturated garden, mountain or sea views to be enjoyed from every interior vantage point.

Endless Indoor and Outdoor Enjoymnet

The Longview Experience

Your Longview experience is as carefree or active as you choose. In the day, it can be everything to recharge on a chaise, soaking up rays, or under a Tuuci umbrella poolside with a freshly blended fruit punch as you drink in the vibrancy of rare Kenyan Sunset and other bougainvillea visually anchoring the postcard views. Extend your gaze to the rejuvenating turquoise and indigo layers of the sea for a bonus soothing chromotherapy session. Natural coral stone has upgraded the original pool deck but the grand art deco pool with inlaid shelving and effortless staircase entry, has been preserved in all its silver screen glamor. With its 30’ x 50’ x 8’ dimensions, swimming is an expansive pleasure. It’s tennis time whenever you desire. Savor scents like jasmine Rangoon and sightings of the mystical iridescent streamer-tailed humming or God bird as the indigenous people would say, on the stroll to your green clay court.

Re-balance yourself in Jamaica’s famous rich natural bounty on the almost 4-acre grounds, purposefully planted with botanical delights of resplendent flowers and native fruit trees. Your Chef will surely include seasonal goodies like mangos, right from the land on your breakfast platter.

At night, another enchanting dimension of the estate’s purview is revealed. The lights of Montego Bay and its suburban hillside neighborhoods look like the gods have generously festooned twinkling gemstones across the Bay. Whether enjoying a gourmet meal al fresco at the stunning 14-seater table or imbibing at your choice of outdoor bar, you are guaranteed no better view on the island. Closer up expect the treat of a light show from fireflies aka peenie wallies. Since you are in a place of enchantment, it’s no stretch of imagination to wonder if Tinkerbell and her fairy friends are blinking their beams to illuminate their nighttime garden patrols.

Of course, the aforementioned delights and much more are all available without leaving your vacation home but if you want to explore Longview Residency is complete with premium beach club access to the Round Hill resort’s amenities such as its beach, spa, water sports, restaurants, and bars. While it may be hard to leave Longview and all its charm, Jamaica’s many North Coast attractions are nearby, and even the airport is conveniently less than 30 minutes away.

Longview Villa promises the indulgences of a lifetime, ensconced in unprecedented comfort and service with golden sunshine and cooling tradewinds, it is primed for memory-making and complete re-energization. You will want to return again and again.
